We are a group of university students united by our passion for IT, who embarked on a transformative journey from the academy to becoming junior developers at Qilin.Cloud. In this post, we take you behind the scenes of our recent journey, delve into the MYT experience, the challenges we faced, and our remarkable achievements, and share insights into what it means to be part of the Qilin.Cloud team.

The MYT Experience: A Rollercoaster of Growth

Our story begins during our university days when we were merely students with a shared passion for information technology. It was in these formative years that we had the opportunity to intern together, gaining our first taste of real-world IT experience. This marked the initial step in a journey that led us to become freshers at Qilin.Cloud.

Our time spent in training was akin to a rollercoaster ride, marked by ups and downs, a journey filled with both moments of sadness and joy. We soon discovered the world of IT was a complex maze filled with countless new concepts, tools and methods to grasp. As we navigated the complexities of knowledge, working methods and soft skills, we realized that learning the ropes in such an environment is no small feat, and the MYT team embraced the challenge wholeheartedly.

In the world of technology, challenges are an inevitable given. What sets us apart at Qilin.Cloud is our spirit – the spirit of the Qilin. Like the mythical creature from Chinese folklore, we are known for our resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity.

The training program encompassed not only the development of our technical prowess but also the fine art of being a professional developer. This comprehensive approach taught us not just how to code but how to thrive in a workplace, emphasizing adaptability, teamwork, and effective communication.

Adapting to a Professional Environment: Handling Intense Deadline Pressure

Transitioning from a university setting to a professional environment brought with it a whole new level of expectations and demands. The pressure to meet deadlines in a real-world scenario was a significant challenge. The fast-paced nature of projects and the weight of client expectations meant that we had to be at our best at all times.

Our solution to this challenge was twofold. Firstly, we recognized the need to change our mindset. We had to adapt to the professional world’s pace and requirements. This meant accepting that intense deadline pressure was the new norm and not something to be dreaded. Instead, we saw it as an opportunity to prove our abilities and resilience.

Secondly, meticulous planning became our ally. We learned to break down tasks into smaller, manageable components and set realistic milestones. We were also careful not to overcommit and practiced setting clear expectations with clients and team members regarding project timelines.

Effective communication and coordination with our team members were vital in handling intense deadline pressure. We learned to discuss workload distribution and resource allocation effectively, ensuring that no one person was overwhelmed. Our experienced team members were always ready to offer guidance, and we found that seeking help or advice when needed was a sign of strength, not weakness.

Lack of Experience and Hesitancy to Ask for Help

Joining a professional team came with its own set of challenges. As newcomers, we initially lacked the experience and knowledge that some of our more seasoned colleagues possessed. This often led to inaccurate task estimations and task breakdowns. It was difficult to gauge the complexity of a task or the time required for its completion.

Additionally, as new members of the team, we were initially hesitant to ask for help. This hesitancy was rooted in the fear of appearing inexperienced or unknowledgeable. However, we soon realized that seeking assistance was not a sign of weakness but a way to grow and learn from our more experienced peers.

Our solution to this challenge was to embrace our novice status as an opportunity for growth. We actively sought guidance and mentorship from our team members, especially when faced with complex tasks. We found that by asking questions and engaging in open dialogues, we not only learned but also built stronger bonds with our colleagues.

Balancing Graduation Projects and Team Tasks: Time Management

Balancing our graduation projects alongside our responsibilities within the team proved to be another daunting challenge. Both the academic deadlines and the professional project timelines added to the pressure. There were moments when we felt overwhelmed, trying to meet commitments on multiple fronts.

Our solution involved improved time management and effective prioritization. We learned to allocate dedicated time slots for each set of tasks, making sure that neither area suffered due to the other. Effective project management tools, combined with efficient collaboration within the team, were instrumental in streamlining our workflow.

Additionally, seeking guidance from our mentors on prioritization and time management strategies proved invaluable. They helped us understand the importance of setting clear boundaries and being realistic about our capacities.

In summary, our journey as MYT at Qilin.Cloud involves facing and overcoming numerous challenges. These challenges tested our adaptability, resilience, and ability to manage time effectively. Our experiences demonstrated that challenges, when approached with the right mindset and a willingness to find solutions, can be stepping stones to success. The culmination of our efforts was a notable achievement – the recognition of our “Best Team Performance” in the training graduation competition, a testament to our collective dedication, collaboration, and the strong professional foundation we had developed. Our journey would not have been possible without the guidance and mentorship of our trainers and the unwavering support of our teammates at Team Qilin.Cloud. Thanks to our determination, we became a part of the Qilin.Cloud team. This was an incredible opportunity for us and underscored our dedication to align with the values of our future home at Qilin.Cloud. However, our journey as MYT didn’t end with the competition victory, it was just the beginning of a new chapter.

The MYT team was exposed to this professional culture during our training and bonding trip.

The Team-Bonding Trip: Beyond Boundaries

Our adventure took a remarkable turn as we embarked on our very first team-bonding trip with the Qilin.Cloud team. The trip was a blend of adventure, learning, and fun. We engaged in activities that we had never experienced before. From shooting a sniper rifle to playing baseball, and from trekking through Bach Ma Mountain to witnessing the breathtaking scenery of Hai Van Pass, each experience left an indelible mark on us.

The trip provided an extraordinary opportunity for MYT to interact and develop deeper connections with each member of the Qilin.Cloud team. Prior to this adventure, interactions had been largely limited to professional settings. However, the trip allowed us to engage with our colleagues in a relaxed and informal manner, offering a glimpse into the human side of the Qilin.Cloud team.

This journey offered an opportunity to hone our English language skills and expand our horizons as we engaged in enlightening conversations with Marc Costea and Marvin Zimmermann (both from Qilin.Cloud’s Board of Directors). These interactions transcended professional boundaries, providing a deeper understanding of life beyond our homeland.
